The Framework for Gender Equality at JGU has been updated and is now available online:
Please note: Currently, the framework is available only in German. We will provide further information as soon as the English version is published.
With its Framework for Gender Equality, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is pursuing the goal of creating a non-discriminatory and equal opportunity environment for all members of the university. The plan serves as strategic guidelines to reduce structural disadvantages and promote gender equality in all areas of the university.
The (new) framework plan contains JGU’s equality policy goals and specifies measures to achieve them. Based on analyses of the current situation at JGU, specific sub-goals and responsibilities to achieve them were formulated in various fields of action (e.g. students, staff, sexualized harassment, balancing studies/work and family responsibilities) in order to advance equality at JGU along an intersectional approach.
Central measures include, for example, the promotion of women in top academic positions, the gender-equitable design of appointment procedures, and the implementation of gender mainstreaming in university decision-making processes.
The new framework will take effect for a period of six years following its adoption by the Senate in November 2025 and will be evaluated after three years.
