Our Lunch Lectures will return this semester and continue to provide exciting insights into current research and issues. The current series is taking place in cooperation with the General Students’ Committee’s Queer*Referat and focuses on the ‘authoritarian turn’, antifeminism, and attacks on science.

The interdisciplinary lunch lectures “Food for Thought” provide insights into current topics and research questions in order to make gender and gender studies perspectives visible, including how they relate to other power structures. There will be a 25-minute keynote, followed by an informal discussion.

Anyone interested in topics related to gender and intersectionality is cordially invited to attend and exchange ideas across hierarchies and disciplines and to network in a relaxed atmosphere over coffee and tea.

The Lunch Lectures usually take place on Tuesdays at 12:15 pm in the Philosophicum (Fakultätssaal, Room 01-185).

January 15, 2026: Dealing with resistance in gender equality work (German)

This event is intended to supplement the “Food for Thought” Lunch Lectures in the winter semester and is aimed at decentralized Equality Commissioners. The goals include learning how to recognize different forms of resistance (naturalization, antiquation, devaluation, etc.), explain the phenomenon and structures of antifeminism, especially in higher education institutions, –  expanding one’s own repertoire of strategies for dealing with pushback (e.g., in appointment procedures), and gaining positive reinforcement through skill development, networking, and exchange with others.
